That wraps up our eighth cohort! 10 incredible teams pitched to more than 250 investors and 1000 members of the community on Demo Day. The teams detailed how they are changing the way we do everything from e-commerce, machine learning, human resources, to healthtech, fundraising and fintech.
It’s a busy time at Boomtown Accelerator in Boulder, as the spring 2017 cohort (Boomtown’s eighth class) is less than two weeks from Demo Day. The teams started in late February and are all focused on presenting their businesses to investors and the community on May 19th, while still managing to continue their momentum and growth required to run a business.
We’ve seen hundreds of entrepreneurs walk through the doors at Shark Tank to meet the Sharks (a.k.a. the investors) and pitch their product ideas. Some ideas the Sharks love, some they hate. In February of 2017, Bitsbox (Boomtown fall 2014 cohort), made it onto the show.
Comcast NBCUniversal and Boomtown announced The Farm Startup Accelerator yesterday at the Technology Association of Georgia’s (TAG) 2017 Georgia Technology Summit event! Boomtown’s Executive Director Toby Krout presented The Farm’s unique concept to a crowd of nearly 1,000 attendees at TAG’s annual technology summit. This is the first time Boomtown has held one if its accelerator programs outside of its home office in Boulder, Colo.

Boomtown and Whole Foods Market know how vital the first meal of the day is, so they partnered to host Breakfast @ Boomtown, featuring Whole Foods nutritionist Stephanie McCubbin who prepared a delicious and healthy breakfast — a sweet potato hash — but she also offered healthy food tips to inspire a little mental fitness.
ParkiFi has come a long way since graduating from the 2014 Boomtown cohort and today it launched its user-friendly iOS and Android app aimed at reducing the stress and environmental impact of driving by directing users to open parking spots in garages and surface lots throughout downtown Denver.
The entrepreneurial spirit was evident at the CU-Boulder campus recently when 10 game-changing food and agriculture companies from around the world participated in FoodBytes! Boulder. The teams aimed to tackle three food concerns during their five-minute pitches.
