The National Health Council (NHC) and Boomtown Accelerator (Boomtown), are excited to launch the WORLD’S FIRST PATIENT-CENTERED HEALTH CARE ACCELERATOR launching in Boulder, CO in February 2018.
NHC is widely regarded as the industry thought leader in patient-centricity research and advocates on patients’ behalf at the highest public-policy levels. Its’ members include the nation’s leading not-for-profit patient organizations such as the American Cancer Society and the American Heart Association, as well as leading pharmaceutical, device, and insurance companies. These organizations will be called upon to provide critical guidance to startups to ensure their products and solutions meet the true needs of the lives they touch.
The accelerator is recruiting “patient-centric” startups or those that would benefit from further focus on patient-centricity. Patient-centric products and services refers to those aimed at improving the health outcomes that are most important to patients, including patient satisfaction. The critical element is that the patient has been engaged in defining what success looks like by providing their input, experiences, and preferences. Examples include information resources, mobile applications, and personal health devices designed with patient input to help individuals take action to improve their health, make informed decisions, and engage effectively and efficiently with the health care system. Also included are innovations in the delivery of health care that produce the outcomes patients are looking for in more convenient, effective, efficient, and less-expensive ways for increasingly empowered health care consumers.
